Welcome to Beijing, China.

Halophiles, organisms thriving in saline environments, have aroused the interest of scientists since their discovery. Exciting discoveries have been made in this fascinating field of research, and these have led to useful applications. After a series of successful conferences that focused on halophiles: Rehovot, Israel (1978), Obermarchtal, Germany (1985), Alicante, Spain (1989), Williamsburg, USA (1992), Jerusalem, Israel (1997), Sevilla, Spain (2001), Ljubljana, Slovenia (2004), and Colchester, UK (2007), the ninth meeting (Halophiles 2010) will take place in China - an ancient oriental country.

This meeting will bring together scientists from around the world to review the latest developments and achievements of scientific research of halophiles and their applications. It will be an exciting opportunity for the participants to enjoy the scientific content of the conference as well as the unique social, cultural and environmental characteristics of China.

The organizing committee is pleased to invite you to join us to the meeting Halophiles 2010 in Beijing, June 29-July 3, 2010.

The official language of the conference is English.
